WISCONSIN (WKBT) — Male doctors once dominated the workforce, but today nearly half of medical students are women.
Medicine is destined for a more equal future, and female physicians in the Mayo Clinic Health System are celebrating “Celebrating Women in Medicine Month” by appreciating the female students who are the future of medicine.
“I can see my new interns coming in and it’s wonderful to see them step into their roles and just be a guide for them as well and let them know that, you know it’s a tough profession,” said the third-year resident at Mayo. Dr. Nandita Ganne Clinic.
2019 was the first year that the majority of medical students were women.
As students graduate, the number of women in the industry is expected to increase.
