Readers poll: Who is the most influential person in Europe on green issues?

Climate activist Greta Thunberg, veteran broadcaster David Attenborough or perhaps European Green Deal champion Frans Timmermans: Who would you name as the most influential person in Europe on green issues?

POLITICO’s team of journalists on climate, energy and sustainability compiles a list of the personalities who will shape Europe’s environmental policy over the next 12 months. Our inaugural Green 28 slate will be unveiled at an online event on October 12.

But first, we would like to know what you think.

Who is likely to have the biggest impact on climate and sustainability issues in Europe in the coming months, for good or ill? This is not a beauty contest for worthy female activists, nor a popularity contest to put famous politicians on a pedestal. Instead, POLITICO’s ranking (which is not limited to the EU) will shine a light on the people who wield the most influence in their respective fields, often behind the scenes, without any moral judgment. Your choice could be a highly effective energy lobbyist who avoids the limelight; a mayor quietly transforming his city’s transportation system; or a government adviser who has the ear of his prime minister.
