LOVES THE PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – Dozens of people hung out at Neighbors Bar and Gaming Sunday, in a bid to raise awareness about men’s mental health.
Rachel Strunk organized the event hoping more men would feel comfortable asking for help when they’re in trouble. This hits home close to Strunk, who says his own brother killed himself years ago.
Everyone who stopped enjoyed the food, the raffles and the music. More importantly, there was also information about mental health resources.
“When my brother passed away, it was 30 years ago. And 30 years ago, it wasn’t okay for a lot of men to talk about what they were going through,” Strunk said.
