Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Kerr Community Center in Bastrop on September 29. 8 to hear from local youth about their mental health perspectives and needs. During the Queen’s time in Bastrop, she was able to not only build relationships with Bastrop County Youth Delegates, but also tap into the heart of society’s need for youth perspectives.
Bastrop County Cares has established its Resilient Bastrop County Initiative – a community collaboration that will assess, plan and implement strategies to become a healthier community that supports resilience, mental health and well-being – with partners such that Youth Building Networks for Change and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health to develop safe spaces designed for young people to hear and heal each other.
To support local mental health initiatives, the Bastrop County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation making September 1st. 8 Bastrop County Youth Mental Health Day.
