Arlo Parks cancels US tour dates, cites mental health issues

“I’m broken,” wrote indie pop R&B star Arlo Parks, taking to Twitter to cancel a series of US shows.

Parks began her run in the United States earlier this month, but recently canceled eight tour dates between September 1. 14 and Sept. 24 to ensure his sanity. The British entertainer said her mental health had “deteriorated to the point of debilitating” and left her “exhausted”.

“I’ve been on the road intermittently for the past 18 months, taking every free second in between and working to the bone,” Parks wrote in the Tweeter. “People around me started to worry but I was eager to deliver and I was afraid of disappointing my fans and myself. I pushed myself in an unhealthy way, further and harder than I should have.

Stating that she now finds herself in a “very dark, exhausted and dangerously low place”, the ‘Green Eyes’ singer is taking time to return home to London to recover. The tour will begin in September. 26 in Portland, Oregon as planned.

“I don’t take decisions like this lightly, but I’m broken and I really need to get out there, go home and take care of myself,” she added. “I will do my best to make it up to you – for now you can get refunds at your point of purchase. I am forever grateful to everyone who continues to show up for me, what a dream to have fans like you guys – I’ll be back – I love AP.

In 2021, Parks won a Brit Award for Best New Artist, as well as the Mercury Prize for his album Collapsed in the rays of the sun.
