BEACHWOOD, Ohio – Beachwood Police have set up a secure area where online purchases can be transacted safely.
Residents can now transfer goods that were purchased online to the new Internet Exchange Zone, a designated secure area for in-person contact in the police department parking lot, 2700 Richmond Road. The area is made up of two marked parking spaces and is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week by city-owned surveillance equipment.
Parking spaces are marked with signs indicating emergency and non-emergency telephone numbers to call, if necessary.
Beachwood Police Receive Wellness Grant
Beachwood Police also announced that the department received special government funding. Mike DeWine as part of Ohio’s new First Responder Recruitment, Retention and Resilience Program.
The program is designed to meet the wellness needs of law enforcement officers, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
Beachwood Police, in this first round of funding, will receive $29,750 for an employee assistance program and to provide access to an online wellness app for confidential support. A total of 26 Ohio agencies will receive a total of $1.67 million.
“Our first responders face the daily challenge of providing the highest level of response and care to the people of Ohio during traumatic circumstances, with little or no time to effectively deal with the stress brought on by these situations” , DeWine said in a statement announcing the program. “We created this grant program to help our first responders take care of themselves so they can continue to take care of others.”
Beachwood Police Chief Kate McLaughlin is thrilled the BPD is receiving the grant, which he applied for a few months ago.
“This money will provide our staff with a range of support options to manage the stress of our work, and it will allow everyone to find the help they need during difficult times,” McLaughlin said in a statement from the company. town.
Mayor Justin Berns expressed his gratitude for the grant, saying, “We want our officers to have access to all the support they need, and this grant enables that path.”
