Myers Recognized for Exceptional Teaching Moments | Penn State University

HERSHEY, Father. —Dr. Abigail Myers, a physician in the Department of Pediatrics, was featured in Penn State College of Medicine’s “Exceptional Moments in Teaching” program in September.

“Dr. Myers is the best facilitator,” wrote a current student. “I especially liked the way she led the group commentary because I got to hear criticism from my teammates. She also studies the material upstream, and it shows. She’s serious about our upbringing. , but so cheerful and funny.

Myers is from Hershey. She received her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia and completed her pediatric residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. After two years in private practice, Myers returned to Hershey to join Penn State Health Pediatrics, where she serves as an attending physician and teaches pediatric residents as well as first- and third-year medical students.

As an assistant professor at the Penn State College of Medicine, Myers works with medical students in their preclinical years, serving as a master facilitator of problem-based learning, a society counselor coach, and a gastrointestinal course director. gut / nutrition. Although her three young sons keep her busy, she says, she is an avid reader who tries to join as many book clubs as possible and can be counted on for book recommendations when she teaches. She also enjoys playing tennis and watching all the sports her sons participate in.
