Several police reports have been filed against two fitness studios whose outlets are said to have closed overnight.
Kyklos Studio and its affiliate brand X Fitness are run by Mr. Atlas Ang, 31 years old. Their websites and social media pages were suddenly locked down or taken down earlier this week, and Mr. Ang became unreachable.
Attempts by the Straits Times to contact him for comment were also unsuccessful.
Several users, who told ST that they purchased packages ranging from around $200 to $600, are worried that they won’t be able to get their money back.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, several said they accepted the packages because the studios seemed appropriate and had outlets in malls.
A woman spent around $300 in August on a 20-class package after taking a trial class.
“I’ve signed packages with other studios and this has never happened before,” she added.
“I’m really upset that they didn’t even announce anything on their social media and just disappeared.”
She said she had yet to attend a single class and found out the latest twist of events from a friend on Tuesday (September 13).
Her friend tried to attend a class she had signed up for, but found the studio was locked.
The studio’s independent instructors were also unable to contact Mr. Ang.
The studios are in the GR.iD mall in Dhoby Ghaut and Tekka Place in Serangoon.
The X Fitness website, which is no longer available, also lists classes at Hougang Sports Hall.
Police have confirmed that several complaints have been filed and are investigating the matter.
Business records show that Mr. Ang is the director of four companies specializing in training courses for sports and games.
These are ACSG 1, Kyklos, X+ and XSC 1.
Kyklos and ACSG 1 appear to be registered at his home in Punggol, while XSC 1 is registered at the studio address in Dhoby Ghaut.
X+ is registered at an address near Chinatown.
He is also listed as a director of Hong Creatives, an advertising company, where a man who answered the phone said only that Mr Ang “would be back soon”.
