Citizens’ Library Holds Civil War Medical Conference

More than 618,000 soldiers died in our nation’s civil war, but due to unsanitary medical conditions, the majority of them died of disease rather than being killed in action.

How surgery and anesthesia were used during the Civil War is the subject of an upcoming lecture by two Gettysburg battlefield medical staff and guides, hosted by Citizens Library & District Center.
